The thesis · the discipline shift

One disciplined architect, with AI, does the work of a team.

The entire ecosystem exists to prove one bet. The disruption AI brings to software is structural, not cyclical — the floor is gone, and the engineer's role becomes system designer and agent orchestrator. Complai productizes the lone architect's ability to run the full discovery → specification → verification loop, with AI, at a rigor that used to need a room.

Why now

The best methodology we have was built for a room that no longer assembles.

Domain-Driven Design — Evans, Vernon, Brandolini's Event Storming — assumed you could get fifteen people in a room for a week to argue aggregate boundaries over sticky notes. Teams are now smaller, distributed, AI-augmented. The architect who used to facilitate that workshop sits alone with an agent.

The world DDD was built for
  • Fifteen people, one room, one week.
  • Sticky notes and a facilitator.
  • Working memory held in the team.
  • Rigor that left when people did.
The world now
  • One architect, sitting with an agent.
  • Signals — requirements, rules, prior decisions — refined into a spec.
  • Working memory held in the chain.
  • Rigor that outlives the team.

What we hold true

Four convictions, encoded into the architecture.

  1. I

    Whole-canvas context.

AI doing architectural work must operate on the full design and its trajectory — never on a frame.

    Realized in flmnt

  2. II

    Signal-Driven Development.

Gaps are signals, not friction. Convergence to zero is the operational definition of done.

    The method under every product

  3. III

    Compliance as projection.

Regulatory evidence is a derivative of the architecture, not a retrofit bolted on at audit time.

    Realized in Codex and Proof

  4. IV

    Temporal domain modeling.

Domain models need a time dimension that can be tested before code exists.

    Realized in Moment and Facet

Built with itself

We tested the chain by walking it.

A live HIPAA audit-readiness engagement — run against a real audit, with every artifact derived from the architecture itself.

The company

Complai is a brand and an ecosystem — not a single product.

There is no artifact called "Complai." The brand is the umbrella over nine products, each building one specific outcome. When someone asks what the Complai product is, the answer is the ecosystem — the products inside it are the things you run.
